Our first geothermal energy investment project in Serbia is located in Valjevo. We have named it Valjevo Energy.
Valjevo Energy - An Opportunity for Valjevo
Valjevo has a unique opportunity to become a leader in geothermal energy deployment in Serbia - harnessing the natural heat of the earth, a resource that is clean, affordable, renewable, and locally available.
The use of geothermal energy can reduce district heating costs and significantly improve air quality in Valjevo.
Geothermal Potential of Valjevo
Research conducted by the Faculty of Mining and Geology has confirmed significant geothermal potential in Valjevo and its surroundings. Underground water temperatures range between 40°C and 62°C (with an estimated average of 50°C). These findings confirm the feasibility of developing sustainable energy infrastructure, including district heating systems for households and public buildings.
Five zones with valuable renewable thermal and subthermal groundwater resources have been identified:

Due to their location and proximity, Zones 1 and 2 are of particular strategic importance, as they enable the use of geothermal energy within the Valjevo District Heating Plant for district heating of residential and commercial buildings.
By utilizing these resources, Valjevo could achieve two major benefits:
Reduction of air pollution - decreased use of fossil fuels, reducing harmful gas and particulate emissions.
Lower heating costs - utilization of affordable geothermal thermal energy and reduced dependence on volatile fossil fuel prices.
The use of geothermal energy could further stimulate local economic development and position Valjevo as a national leader in renewable energy.
With strategic investment and infrastructure development, geothermal energy could transform Valjevo into a sustainable and energy-modern city, setting a strong example for others to follow.
Our Vision for Valjevo
Palkovsky Group proposes the development of geothermal energy through a public–private partnership with the City of Valjevo.
Through private investment, geothermal energy would be introduced into the district heating system, providing lower-cost and environmentally superior heating for a large number of residential and commercial buildings.
Our vision is for the Valjevo District Heating Plant to begin using geothermal energy as a primary heat source. This would make heating more affordable and accessible to a wider number of citizens, increasing system adoption and reducing reliance on fossil fuels - directly leading to reduced air pollution.
In one strategic move, Valjevo gains cheaper heating and cleaner air.
